Choose according to your capacity. For example if you can build backlinks from 100 root domain in a year, start working.
Additionally, you must also ensure the number of articles that the competitor has (according to your capacity). If the doubt still persists, watch the niche finding series over and over again. (Until you get confident on finding and choosing a niche)

What do you see while selecting a site?
Like, I will go for a site that has:
- less articles
- less rd, or maybe
- an unexplored niche
Now, if I filter out the sites with these three parameters, I’ll be left with only a few sites, or maybe no sites, as it is hard to find such sites.
But i need to keep on looking based on my filtration method.
Likewise, make a filtration method for yourself.
If you like to work on a particular niche, or you are an expert of a topic, you may find something in your niche. It’s not like you’ll get the site today itself. It will take time. try to find 3-4 such sites, then see which is the best among them.
Now try to find the competitors of the niche to know their traffic, article articulation, rd, and other things.

I hardly get one or two competitors. But how to find more ? I dont have paid version of any tools. Can you please share what all the filtration methods u follow?

In paid blogging course, I have shared everything without any paid tool.
Follow that you will able to find.
Again if you are unable to find more competitors, change the niche and keywords.
Try on other keywords.
